The government has announced the start of the recruitment process for Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia, with the Malaysian authorities agreeing to enlist a total of 338 agencies to facilitate the deployment of workers to the country.
The agencies include Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL), 25 private processing/service agencies and 312 recruiting agencies.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment today.
According to the press release, Malaysia has agreed in principle, at the special request of the Bangladesh government, to recruit 10,000 Bangladeshi workers at zero cost.
The listed recruiting agencies will be able to independently find employers in Malaysia, collect job demand letters, select workers in Bangladesh and conduct recruitment activities.
The 25 listed processing/service agencies, including BOESL, will provide necessary assistance with administrative procedures involving the relevant Malaysian authorities, including calling visas and e-visas.
Subsequently, the respective recruiting agencies will complete the process of obtaining clearance from the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) for workers in accordance with Bangladeshi law.
The press release said each approved recruiting agency would be able to obtain BMET clearance for its selected workers under its own licence.
In this regard, the processing/service agencies would be able to issue the necessary no-objection certificates (NOCs).
The ministry said the government had been working continuously to reopen the Malaysian labour market and increase the participation of legitimate and eligible Bangladeshi recruiting agencies.
At the same time, emphasis had been placed on controlling workers’ migration costs, ensuring safe recruitment and maintaining transparency.
The press release further stated that the process of finalising the list of approved medical centres for health examinations of workers travelling to Malaysia was underway.
