Commodity markets have been volatile for a long time. Thousands of complaints about increased prices of products. Despite various efforts of the government, the violence of the syndicate cannot be controlled. There are also questions about the quality of various civic services.
Today Friday (March 15) went to various markets including Kauranbazar, Motijheel, Tikatuli, Mirpur, Jatrabari, Rampura, Mugda and found that vegetables are being sold at high prices in the vegetable shops. There is not much presence of buyers in the morning market. The price of vegetables in the vegetable shops in the market is going up. Cucumber is being sold at Tk 100 per kg. Apart from this, the prices of other vegetables are running at 60 to 80 taka per kg, but the price of barbati, potal has increased and touched 100 taka. The prices of other types of vegetables remain high in this market due to rising commodity prices.
Apart from this, tomatoes are being sold at Tk 60 to Tk 80 per kg. Carrots are being sold at Tk 40 per kg. Eggplant is being sold at 60 taka. If good quality lemons were sold at 80 taka on the first day of Ramadan, today they are selling at 60 taka.
Besides, green chillies are being sold at Tk 100 to Tk 120 per kg in the market, bitter gourd which was sold at Tk 150 per kg before Ramadan is now being sold at Tk 80 per kg, prawns at Tk 50 per kg, kachur lati at Tk 80 per kg, long brinjal at Tk 80 per kg. A kg is being sold at Tk 60, Kachurmukhi is being sold at Tk 100 a kg, saffron is being sold at Tk 80. Each gourd is being sold at 60 to 80 taka. Papaya is being sold at Tk 50 per kg, dhundul at Tk 80, Chichinga at Tk 80, shrimp at Tk 100 and sajon at Tk 240 per kg and potato at Tk 40 per kg.
In the market, radishes are selling at Tk 40 per kg, beans at Tk 40 to Tk 50 per kg, cauliflower at Tk 40 to Tk 50 each, cabbage at Tk 40 to Tk 50 each, broccoli at Tk 30 each. 200 to 220 taka of coriander leaves, 40 taka of banana leaves, 40 to 50 taka of sweet pumpkin, 15 taka of red vegetables, 30 taka of gourd greens, 15 taka of radish greens, 10 to 15 taka of spinach, 10 taka of green vegetables.
It has been seen from the market that even a week before fasting, beef was sold at 700 to 750 taka, but in the current market it is being sold at 770 to 800 taka. Buyers are not comfortable with the prices of chicken and fish in the Rozar market.
A few days before Ramadan, the prices of daily commodities have started to increase. Now it is at an unbearable level. The market is not controlled by the government. Anyone who wants to increase the price. Whatever we catch in the market, the price is high. Everything costs more. He said, in different countries of the world, on the occasion of fasting, huge price discounts are given on various daily necessities. But Bangladesh is perhaps the only country where traders raise prices by competing. It is very unfortunate for us.
It has been seen on the ground that beef is being sold in the market from 770 to 800 taka. However, in some areas including Malibagh, Shahjahanpur, the price of beef is being sold at Tk 600 per kg. Besides, beef is being sold at the price of Tk 600 per kg at 30 places in the capital.
Chicken meat is the only source of income for the poor and middle class. However, the price of broiler chicken has increased over the week. A few days ago, chicken was sold at Tk 200 at the retail level at Tk 230 to Tk 240.
It has been seen in the market that golden chicken is being sold at the rate of 330 to 340 taka. Also, the price of domestic chicken has increased by Tk 50 per kg. Selling at 650 to 700 Tk.
A dozen red eggs are being sold at Tk 140 and duck eggs at Tk 220 in the markets. Domestic chicken eggs were seen to be sold at 85 rupees.
Among the less expensive fish in the market are pangasius and tilapia, which are usually available for less than Tk 200. But in the current market pangas is being sold at Tk 200 to Tk 230 per kg. Which was sold at the rate of 180 to 200 taka three days ago. Tilapia is being sold at Tk 210 to Tk 230, which was Tk 200-210 two days ago.
Hilsa fish weighing 400 grams is Tk 900 per kg, farmed horn is Tk 350 to Tk 600 per kg (depending on size), wool price has increased to Tk 400 to Tk 550 per kg (depending on size), magur Tk 700 to Tk 1,000, mrigel Tk 300 to Tk 450, shrimps Tk 800 to Tk 1,000. 200 Taka, Boal 500 to 900 Taka, Katal 400 to 600 Taka, Poa 400 to 450 Taka, Pabda 400 to 450 Taka, Kai 220 to 240 Taka, Mala 500 Taka, Batasi Tengra 1,600 Taka, Tengra 600 to 800 Taka, Kachki at Tk 600, Panchmishali at Tk 220, Rupchanda at Tk 1,200, Baim at Tk 1,200 to Tk 1,500, Desi Kai at Tk 1,000, Meni at Tk 700, Shoal Fish at Tk 600 to Tk 1,000, Aide at Tk 600 to Tk 900, Bele at Tk 700 Taka and kaikla or kaikkya are being sold at the rate of 600 taka per kg.
