Sweden allocates another 1.4 million USD = 17 crore taka for the Cyclone Remal victims in humanitarian
support to Bangladesh through Action Against Hunger Bangladesh and UNHCR in Bangladesh.
With this recent contribution, Sweden’s humanitarian contribution to Bangladesh totals 10.47 million
USD = 123 crore taka in 2024.
This will enable up scaling of interventions in Sunamgonj, Kurigram, Satkhira, Barguna, Bagerhat and
Cox’s Bazar.
Activities include assistance for food security, rehabilitation of WASH facilities and access to menstrual
hygiene management, and supporting maternal and child health access to pregnant women and
adolescent girls for SRHR.
Sweden is one of the largest humanitarian donors globally and the top donor to UN’s Central Emergency
Response Fund (CERF) that has recently allocated USD 13.7 million to respond to Cyclone Remal and in
anticipation of further floods in northern Bangladesh.
