Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman is visiting Bangladesh this year. His visit is expected to strengthen the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh. Essa Youssef Essa Al Duhailan, the Saudi ambassador appointed in Dhaka, confirmed this information on Friday.
In an event, he said, ‘Saudi Crown Prince has accepted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s invitation to visit Bangladesh. He will come this year, but the date is yet to be fixed.’
Both sides feel that this will be a landmark event in the history of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia and will further strengthen relations, especially trade, investment and economic cooperation. The tour is likely to take place in the second half of this year.
This will be the first visit of a Saudi Prince to Bangladesh after the visit of the then Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz to Dhaka after 1985.
A number of bilateral agreements will be signed during the Saudi leader’s visit, which will significantly strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries – both sides hope.
Saudi Ambassador Essa Yousef Essa Al Duhailan said, during the visit, issues of mutual interest and ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh will be discussed.
The Saudi ambassador spoke to reporters after inaugurating the food basket distribution program on Thursday. He expressed hope that the Prince’s proposed visit would take place soon at a convenient time.
The ambassador said that Saudi Arabia is planning to invest 1.2 billion dollars in Bangladesh and the Saudi company Red Sea Gateway Terminal will start operating the Patenga Bay terminal in Chittagong next month.
