‘Russia has no reason to fear,’ says Vladimir Putin after another landslide victory in Russia’s presidential election. He cannot be stopped in any way.’ The news agency AFP reported this information in a report.
71-year-old Vladimir Putin is going to become the president of Russia for the fifth time in a row. After polling for the last three days, Boothferat polls say that Putin won by a landslide. Because he has no opposition. All those who were are dead or imprisoned.
Preliminary results show that Putin, who came to power in 1999, is coming to power again for a new six-year term. In doing so, Putin will surpass Joseph Stalin and become Russia’s longest-serving leader in more than 200 years.
The results show that Putin got 87.8 percent of the votes. He got the highest result in Russia’s post-Soviet history.
“Thank you all for supporting me and trusting me,” Putin told the Russian public at a press conference at his campaign headquarters in Moscow, hours after the polls ended on Monday. Please accept my gratitude.’
Putin also said, ‘Some people want to scare us, want to suppress us, but our history shows that such attempts have never succeeded. Will not be successful in future. No one can stop Russia.’
Putin’s victory in the election was never in doubt. Because most of his critics are either in jail, in exile, or dead. Public criticism of Putin has also been suppressed. Although there are supposed to be candidates this time, in the end some names are not on the ballot. One of them is the recently deceased opposition leader Alexei Navalny. He was considered Putin’s biggest critic in Russia. Navalny died in prison last month after a long incarceration. Apart from this, Boris Nadezhdin and journalist Ekaterina Dunatsva were potential candidates for this year’s election. Veteran politician Nadezhdin is known as a critic of the war in Ukraine. Journalist Dunatsabha is also known to be critical of Putin. But neither of them could be a candidate in this election. They could not participate in the elections due to the ban of the Russian authorities.
Three nominal candidates fought against Putin in the election. Nikolai Kharitonov is one of the three candidates other than Putin on the presidential ballot. Although he is a Communist Party nominee, he admires rival Putin more than himself. Another candidate is Leonid Slutsky. He is also engaged in anti-Western discussions on the country’s state television. In addition, Vladislav Davankov, the deputy speaker of the country’s parliament, is a candidate for the election. This candidate is also known as a pro-Putin politician.
In a speech after his election victory, Putin thanked Russians for their ‘support and faith in him’. Criticizing the West, he said, whoever tries to intimidate or suppress us; No one in history has succeeded in doing this, their efforts have not worked yet, and will not work in the future.
President Vladimir Putin contested the election as an independent candidate. With the victory, he will now be president for the fifth time and in that case his term of power will be extended till 2030.
