Recently, the Danish Embassy in partnership with BRAC and the Embassy of Sweden hosted an insightful
dialogue reflecting on COP29 outcomes and their implications for Bangladesh. This is the first of a series
called ClimateTalk initiated by the Danish Embassy.
Danish Christian Brix Møller delivered the opening remarks, acknowledging the challenges and mixed
outcomes of COP29. While frustrations remain high regarding global climate ambitions, he reaffirmed
Denmark’s belief in multilateralism, emphasizing that collective action is essential to tackling the climate
crisis.
A panel consisting of climate experts, namely, Dr. Fazle Rabbi Sadeque Ahmed, Climate Expert and
Deputy MD, PKSF; Dr. Farah Kabir, Country Director, ActionAid Bangladesh; Dr. Ainun Nishat, Professor
Emeritus, BRAC University; Anders Karlsen, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Denmark; Mirza
Shawkat Ali, Director, Climate Change and Int'l Convention, Department of Environment; and youth
activist Farah Anzum, examined the outcomes of the COP29 and provided directions for the future on:
