The Netherlands Embassy Deputy Head of Mission, Mr Thijs Woudstra, presented his welcoming
remarks recently at the opening of the Learning from Puran Dhaka, an exhibition, organised by the
Alliance Francaise de Dacca, supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, EU
Delegation alongside other partners.
The project plays a crucial role in the preservation of cultural memories – tangible and intangible
heritage – through architectural drawings, photographs, videos, musicals portraying life in Old Dhaka.
Cultural engagements is one of the Netherlands’s core areas of work in Bangladesh and the Netherlands
have partnered with the Alliance Francaise de Dacca, and other organisations, Embassies in putting
together this exhibition.
The exhibition runs until the 23 February at Alliance Francaise de Dacca, Dhanmondj.
