The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in collaboration with Art Bangla Foundation, and the
University of Dhaka’s Faculty of Fine Arts inaugurated a week-long workshop that brings together Dutch
ceramic techniques and Bangladeshi heritage. Over the next seven days, 32 gifted students from the
Department of Ceramics will create stunning pieces that merge both cultures, celebrating artistic
exchange and innovation. Their masterpieces will be showcased in an exciting exhibition this December.
Mr. Cor Stouten, First Secretary of the Netherlands Embassy attended the event as Chief Guest. Special
Guests Professor Dr. Md. Azharul Islam Sheikh, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, Ms.
Namia Akhtar, Senior Policy Advisor at the Netherlands Embassy, and distinguished artist Professor
Mohammad Eunus, Chairman of Art Bangla Foundation also spoke on this occasion. The event was
chaired by Ms. Chinmoyee Sikder Poppy, Chairperson of the Department of Ceramics, University of
Dhaka.
The workshop is under the expert guidance of Professor Dr. Md. Azharul Islam Sheikh and Associate
Professor Mr. Swapan Kumar Sikder, alongside additional support from Associate Professor Ms.
Chinmoyee Sikder Poppy, Mr. Md. Robiul Islam, Mr. Debashish Pal, and Mr. Mohammad Sabbir-Al Razi.
The event is curated by Mr. Harun ar Rashid Tutul, Director General of Art Bangla Foundation.
