Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim has said that Malaysia stands ready to extend its all out
support to the interim government of Bangladesh.
"Malaysia stands ready to extend its all out support to the interim government. Malaysia is ready to be a
partner of Bangladesh in its endeavour to become a prosperous and truly democratic state," he said.
Malaysian Prime Minister said these while making a telephone call to the Chief Adviser to the interim
government of Bangladesh Dr Muhammad Yunus on August 13, a press release of Bangladesh High
Commission, Kuala Lumpur, said today.
Over the phone, Anwar Ibrahim congratulated Dr Yunus personally on his appointment.
Malaysian Prime Minister recalled with deep satisfaction that Dr Yunus has long-standing good ties with
Malaysia.
During the conversation with Anwar Ibrahim, Dr Yunus reiterated his strong commitment to protect the
rights of all Bangladeshis, including religious and other minorities.
Dr Yunus also invited him to visit Bangladesh to further strengthen the brotherly relationship between
the two countries.
Malaysian dignitary expressed his desire to visit Bangladesh at the earliest.
Professor Yunus thanked the Malaysian Prime Minister for the call and also hoped that Bangladeshi
workers will find more opportunities in Malaysia.
Earlier, on August 10, 2024, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim posted a warm congratulatory message for
Prof Yunus in his social media accounts quoting the immortal verses of Tagore's poem "Where the mind
is without fear" in which he eulogized the vision and vigour of the youth of the country.
Prof. Yunus is also the Chancellor of Albukhari University in Malaysia.
Malaysian Prime Minister is a longtime friend of the 2006 Nobel Peace Laureate and a great friend of
Bangladesh.
