The Meeting of Local Consultative Group (LCG) on Climate Change and Environment (CCE) was held
recently at the Bangladesh Secretariat, chaired by Secretary Dr Farhina Ahmed, according to a press
release.
The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary (Administration) of the Ministry of Environment,
Forest, and Climate Change, Iqbal Abdullah Harun, Additional Secretary (Development) Md Mosharraf
Hossain, Additional Secretary (EPC) Tapan Kumar Biswas, Additional Secretary (Environment) Dr
Fahmida Khanom, newly elected Vice-President of the LCG and First Secretary and Deputy Head of
Cooperation of the Swedish Embassy, Nayoka Martinez Backstrom, and representatives from various
ministries and 33 development partner organizations, including the EU, UN Women, IOM, ADB, USAID,
UNICEF, UNCDF, JICA, GIZ, and the US, Danish, and Swedish Embassies.
To avoid duplication or overlap of work activities of the Bangladesh Climate Development Partnership
(BCDP) and the Local Consultative Group (LCG), the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change
set to form thematic area-based working groups to coordinate and proper monitoring the activities for
maximize the use of the country’s limited resources.
A decision has been made to develop a database to enhance the coordination of activities among
international development partners. This database will include information on the current activities of
development partners and their areas of interest for future projects. To avoid duplication or overlap of
work and increase efficiency, thematic area-based working groups will be formed," a press release said.
A special workshop will be organized soon to coordinate the activities of the BCDM, however, a special

It was also discussed that the LCG group would provide full support to the BCDP board in all future
activities.
