Recently, Japanese Ambassador IWAMA Kiminori paid a farewell call on Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad
Yunus.
During the meeting, Ambassador IWAMA expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the
Honorable Chief Adviser’s warm support and dedication in enhancing the bilateral relations between
Japan and Bangladesh. Ambassador IWAMA conveyed that Japan will continue to support the Interim
Government’s reform efforts as well as Bangladesh's stride forward development and prosperity under
the “Strategic Partnership” between the two countries, while standing by the interim government led by
Dr. Yunus.
Ambassador IWAMA further stressed the importance of ensuring peace and stability in the country and
the region including sustainable response to Rohingya refugees, advancing economic and business
cooperation including improvement of investment environment and boosting people-to-people
exchange. He stated that Japan would work together in these areas.
In response to these remarks, Chief Adviser Dr. Yunus expressed his gratitude for Japan’s continuous
support in the transitional period and expressed his desire to bring the excellent Japan-Bangladesh
relations to an even higher level.
