Japanese Ambassador IWAMA Kiminori formally conferred the Foreign Minister’s Commendation to Dr.
Sheikh Aleemuzzaman on behalf of the Foreign Minister of Japan at a special ceremony held at the
Ambassador’s residence, recently. In the ceremony, Prof. Md. Sayedur Rahman, Vice Chancellor of
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University participated and made a congratulatory remark. Prof.
Nazmul Hosain, Director General of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was present at the ceremony
as well.
The Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and organizations with outstanding
achievements in international fields, to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship
between Japan and other countries. The Commendations also aim to promote the understanding and
support of the Japanese public towards the activities of recipients.
Ambassador IWAMA expressed his sincere appreciation to Dr. Sheikh Aleemuzzaman for his
contributions to promoting exchange between medical societies in Japan and Bangladesh and fostering
confidence in Japanese healthcare in Bangladesh.

distribution of Japanese medical devices and facilitated medical exchanges between the two nations.
Moreover, in response to the needs of the injured at the revolutional movement, he successfully
collaborated with Japanese and Bangladeshi medical institutions and government officials to secure a
$10,000 donation through the JBMA. Despite navigating complex challenges in the medical field, his
steadfast commitment to aiding the injured shows his profound integrity and compassion. “said

On August 1st, 2024, the Government of Japan announced the foreign recipients of “the 2024 Foreign
Minister’s Commendation.”
