Japanese Ambassador IWAMA Kiminori paid a courtesy call on Home and Agriculture Adviser Lt. Gen.
(Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, recently.
Ambassador Iwama asked to ensure the safety of Japanese residents as well as the continuation of the
business of Japanese factories and projects in Bangladesh. In response, Advisor Chowdhry strongly
stated that he would assure security and the law-and-order situation had been improving and was
gradually returning to the previous situation.
While Advisor Chowdhry also mentioned the flood damage and asked for assistance by Japan,
Ambassador Iwama expressed his heartfelt sympathy to those affected and referred to the decision by
the Japan Platform (JPF) to provide emergency relief, which was announced on September 3, to which
Advisor Chowdhry expressed his gratitude.
Further, both sides expressed their interest in promoting cooperation in the agricultural sector.
Referring to the Rohingya issue, Ambassador Iwama also pointed out the importance of ensuring
security in and around the camps.
