Recently, Japanese Ambassador IWAMA Kiminori participated in the International Symposium on
Climate Change and Emergency Management Challenges for Asia Pacific at the Samson H Chowdhury
Centre Dhaka Club organized by Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (A-PAD) and Community
Initiative Society (CIS).
In his speech, he highlighted the shared challenges of natural disasters in Japan and Bangladesh and
emphasized the importance of preparedness and collaboration. He praised A-PAD, CIS, and DCHT(Dhaka
Community Hospital Trust) for their efforts in fostering cross-border cooperation to enhance disaster
resilience.
The Ambassador expressed hope that the symposium would strengthen networks and promote
knowledge-sharing for disaster risk reduction across the region.
