Recently, A Gender Charter of Commitments for News Media in Bangladesh was successfully launched
with Swedish Ambassador Nicolas present.
The charter as acknowledged and signed by 20 leading news outlets of the country. It lays out the
standards, policies and actions necessary to ensure non-discrimination and equality – in the newsroom
and in the news content.
Sweden supports this initiative, promoted by MRDI and Fojo Media Institute and is encouraged by the
leadership shown by the news outleds and media houses signatories of the Charter.
