Dinajpur Haji Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology Agriculture Department Professor ATM Shafiqul Islam has expressed this statement. He said, with the evolution of time, the blood-red Simul tree is no longer visible in the winter season. That precious chimul tree is now on the verge of extinction.
He said, Dinajpur Sadar Upazila Karnai village has several shimul trees in tribal area. In those shimul trees, the flowers of the shimul tree have become colored in crimson color from the beginning of the spring phalgun. There are not only flowers and leaves, but this blooming flower has caught everyone’s attention. And this blood is made from red to white gray cotton.
But now, due to the increase in the use of cotton and foam in different technologies, the use of shimul cotton has decreased a lot. However, there is still a forest of red shimul on both sides of the road at a place called Bansherhat on the Dinajpur-Dashmail highway. There are hundreds of shimul trees in the gap between different trees on this highway. Only flowers and flowers, no leaves, this blooming flower catches everyone’s attention. The birds are flying and sitting on the tip of the red mushroom. The red carpet of stormy Shimul can be seen in Shimultala. Shimul has painted nature in charming form. Which is attracting the attention of passengers of various vehicles including pedestrians. At the end of the season, in the spring weather, the trees matured. Seeing the flowers falling on the road in the early morning brings a different feeling. It seems like a bloody path. Spring does not come if Shimul flower does not bloom.
He said that these scenes were shown to the students admitted to take master’s degree in Habibrabi for research. Their reports are prepared on ongoing nature forms. This time this scene has been handed over to them.
He said that there is a link between cultural practices and the geographical environment of Bangladesh. The red color of this mushroom is spreading everywhere. Then this blood turns from red to white and gray. Shimul cotton has a different value. But now due to the increase in the use of cotton and foam in various technologies, the use of Shimul cotton has decreased a lot.
Professor Abdul Bari of the Forest Department of Dinajpur Habiprabi said that about two decades ago, this shimul flower used to adorn trees in different parts of the countryside. However, with the evolution of time, the crimson root tree is no longer visible in the winter season. Valuable chimul trees are now almost extinct. Blood-red root trees with boiling flowers were seen in different parts of different unions of the upazila. The boiling blood of the mushroom plant is spreading color around the red mushroom.
Rezaul Haque, a retired officer of the Dinajpur Forest Department, said that there was a historical shimul tree behind the Kali temple at the intersection of Mission Road in the city, which has been badly damaged. Roots are known as medicinal plants. The people of the village used to make sugarcane molasses and used the root of the root to cure constipation. Kabiraj Dayal Chandra Roy of Sadre Golapganj Hat area said that this root tree used to bring economic prosperity to the people of rural Bengal. People used to collect cotton from this root and sell it. Many people used to make their own cotton sheets, blankets, and pillows. But with the touch of modernity, the root tree is not so visible anymore. Professor Masudur Rahman, assistant college principal of Birganj Government College, said that due to the increase in the use of foam and cotton production in various technologies, many people have stopped using Shimul cotton. Today we are moving away from the red beauty of Simul Palash, the eternal form of Bengal. As a result, the root tree is on the way to extinction.
He said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered the protection of extinct trees to preserve the nature of the country. Those concerned should work to implement his instructions. But the natural beauty of the country will be restored.
