Danish Christian Brix Møller visited recently the Chittagong port and met with the Chairman of the
Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail. Discussions around mutual interest
took place and the Ambassador toured around the facilities including the location of the proposed Laldia
Container Terminal (LCT).
The selected partner to the CPA/Bangladesh for developing the LCT is the Danish company APM
Terminals, a company of The Mærsk Group. Denmark, being the first European country to have a public
private partnership MOU with Bangladesh, was pleased to nominate APM Terminals, for the
development of the LCT under public-private partnership modality.
This proposed terminal, with a quay length of 450 meters, a berth depth of 10.5 meters and a vessel
draft of 9.5 meters, is envisioned to address the increasing demand for efficient and sustainable
container handling services. Poised to be a ‘green’ terminal, the estimated investment of around USD
400 million through foreign direct investment, positions this project as a significant contributor to
sustainable economic growth in Bangladesh.
