Staff Correspondent
Danish Ambassador Christian Brix Møller made a courtesy visit recently to the BGMEA Head Office in
Dhaka, where he met Mr. Faruque Hassan, President, BGMEA and other members from the Board of
Directors of BGMEA. Productive discussions centered around sustainable growth and concrete
partnership projects between Bangladesh and Denmark. The trade numbers between the two
countries reflect our shared commitment to sustainable practices. Exciting prospects lie ahead for
Bangladesh as it charts a course towards becoming a sustainable production hub.
Denmark’s import from Bangladesh’s Ready-Made Garments sector in FY 2022-23 was worth $1.28
billion, making Denmark the number one importer of garment and textiles from Bangladesh per
capita —almost $200 USD per Dane.
Bangladesh is Denmark’s preferred sourcing destination because of high quality production and
continuous efforts towards improving working conditions and environmental standards.
Denmark is a long standing partner of Bangladesh in its journey of making the textile and apparel
sector more sustainable. This partnership between Bangladesh, a growing hub for sustainable
production, and Denmark, a hub for sustainable fashion and clean tech solutions, is the driving force
for the Partnership on Sustainable growth between the two countries.
