In the invitation of the Bangladesh Dance Artists Association, Li Yu, Spouse of the Chinese
Ambassador, led the Women’s Group “Phoenix Dance” to participate in the annual celebration of the
International Dance Day at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Naheed Ezaher Khan, MP, Honorable State
Minister of Cultural Affairs and representatives from the cultural and art spheres attended the event. Li
Shaopeng, Cultural Counselor of the Embassy was also invited.
The Women’s Group of the Embassy performed the Chinese fan dance “Xiao”. Adorned in traditional
Chinese Hanfu and horse-faced skirts, the performers seamlessly blended the grace of classical Chinese
dance with contemporary rhythmic expression. Accompanied by a fusion of traditional Chinese musical
instruments and modern electronic elements, their performance evoked imagery of majestic
landscapes, valorous heroes, and profound emotions, portraying the resilience and spirit of the Chinese
people. The performance not only garnered enthusiastic applause from the audience, but also deepened
the cultural bonds and mutual understanding between the peoples of China and Bangladesh.
