Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen called on recently Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud at Foreign
Ministry office. The two sides had in-depth discussion on bilateral relations and regional and
international affairs.
Ambassador Yao first conveyed the congratulations of Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of
the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, on Dr. Hasan Mahmud’s assumption of
the foreign minister, indicating that over the past 49 years since the establishment of diplomatic
relations, under the joint guidance by the two leaderships, the two countries have always respected
each other, treated each other equally, and achieved mutual benefit and win-win results, pushing the
Strategic Partnership of Cooperation constantly forward. China firmly supports Bangladesh in
safeguarding national sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, unity and stability, and in
opposing external interference. China is ready to work with the new Government of Bangladesh to
further deepen mutually beneficial and friendly cooperation in all fields. China supports the active
participation of the Bangladeshi side in regional and international affairs, and is willing to contribute
to the repatriation of the displaced people of Rakhine State.
Dr. Hasan Mahmud appreciated China’s long-term support and assistance to the government and
people of Bangladesh, indicating that under the joint efforts of both sides, Strategic Partnership of
Cooperation has been deepening, and practical cooperation in various fields has brought great
benefits to the people of both countries. Bangladesh looks forward to working with China to jointly
uplift bilateral relations to a new height. The Bangladeshi government is grateful for China’s support
in repatriating the Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals and committed to realize the early
repatriation of those displaced people.
