Recently, Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen, along with the entire team of China’s National Emergency
Medical Team, met with Nurjahan Begum, Health and Family Welfare Advisor . During the meeting, they
briefed the advisor on the medical team’s assessments and inspections in Bangladesh and exchanged
views on future cooperation in patient treatment. Both parties also attended the China-Bangladesh Joint
Health Meeting.
Ambassador Yao noted that, in response to the request of the interim government of Bangladesh, China
promptly dispatched the medical team, demonstrating China’s support for the interim government and
the deep friendship between the two nations' peoples. It also reflected the high importance both
governments place on the treatment of the injured. During their time in Bangladesh, the medical team,
as per the arrangements of the Bangladeshi side, visited relevant hospitals, assessed medical facilities
and patients, and conducted preliminary discussions on follow-up treatment plans. The medical team
appreciated the professionalism of their Bangladeshi counterparts. Moving forward, China will advance
medical and health cooperation based on pragmatism, capability, and friendly consultations, in line with
the consensus reached by both governments.
Nurjahan Begumexpressed deep gratitude to China for sending the medical team to Bangladesh and
highly praised the Chinese medical experts, whose work has provided great encouragement to
Bangladeshi healthcare workers and the public. She expressed hope that, with the joint efforts of
medical personnel from both China and Bangladesh, the injured will recover as soon as possible.
From September 22 to 26, China’s National Emergency Medical Team visited Bangladesh, assessing
approximately 160 injured patients in five hospitals, which attracted significant attention from various
sectors of Bangladeshi society.
