The Power Division has said it has ensured round-the-clock monitoring of power generation, transmission and distribution systems, while emergency repair teams have been kept on standby to respond quickly to any disruption. A mild earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale struck parts of Bangladesh today, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD). The Seismic Observatory and Research Centre of BMD said the tremor occurred at 11:41:47 am (BST). The epicentre was located at Amtoli area of Bhaluka in Mymensingh district, around 61 kilometres north of the BMD Seismic Centre in Agargaon, Dhaka. The earthquake originated at latitude 24.33ø North and longitude 90.39ø East. BMD categorized the tremor as a “minor” earthquake.
