Recently, Australian Acting High Commissioner Nardia Simpson met Religious Affairs Adviser Dr Khalid
Hossain. During their warm and wide-ranging discussion Ms Simpson highlighted the government’s
responsibility to build robust institutions to respect, protect and fulfil the human rights of religious
minorities (including Ahmadiyas). They also discussed the protection of places of worship (including Sufi
shrines), women’s rights, madrassa education, and the significant issue of child marriage.
