Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has deployed 33 platoons in Dhaka and adjoining industrial areas to ensure the security of garment factories and other industrial establishments amid ongoing workers’ unrest.
The deployment is aimed at maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety and preventing any untoward incidents in the industrial zones, said a BGB press release this noon.
Of the total deployed forces, three platoons have been stationed in Mirpur, 11 in Savar and Ashulia, 12 in Gazipur and seven in Narayanganj.
Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and Riot Control Vehicles (RCVs) have also been deployed to strengthen security measures and respond to any possible disturbances.
As part of enhanced surveillance, drones are being used for live monitoring, while BGB personnel on duty are equipped with body-worn cameras and improvised body-worn cameras.
The BGB Headquarters’ monitoring cell is overseeing and coordinating the security operations round the clock.
BGB personnel are maintaining close coordination with the local administration and police and remain on alert to ensure a peaceful environment in the industrial areas and prevent any untoward incidents.
The force is also closely monitoring the overall situation in the areas concerned, the release added.
BGB said its operations would continue to ensure public safety, maintain a normal working environment in industrial zones and uphold law and order.
