A Dhaka court today ordered the seizure of immovable assets worth Tk

57.61 crore owned by Nazrul Islam, former chairman of Far East Islami Life Insurance Company

Limited, and his wife Taslima Islam.

Judge Md Shahjahan Kabir of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court passed the order

following an application filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The ACC said Nazrul owns immovable assets worth Tk 38.39 crore, while Taslima owns assets worth Tk

19.22 crore.

The assets include land, houses, flats and residential plots in Dhaka, Munshiganj, Mymensingh,

Patuakhali, Narayanganj and Gazipur.

According to the ACC, Nazrul was allegedly involved in various irregularities and corruption,

including the embezzlement of customers’ savings deposited in different banks and the purchase of

land for the company at inflated prices.

Seven cases have been filed against Nazrul and others, with investigations underway. He was

arrested in a case on October 23, 2025, and questioned on remand.

The ACC said Nazrul and Taslima were attempting to transfer or dispose of the assets, risking

substantial financial loss to the state.
