The University of Asia Pacific (UAP), in collaboration with the Centre for Governance Studies (CGS), organized “The Fiscal Compass 2026: Beyond the Numbers, Shaping Bangladesh’s Future,” a high-level policy dialogue on the Proposed National Budget for FY 2026–27 at its auditorium in Dhaka.
The event brought together policymakers, economists, academics, researchers, business leaders, and students to discuss Bangladesh’s fiscal priorities, economic challenges, and future development strategy. The forum served as an important platform for exchanging views on sustainable growth, investment promotion, revenue mobilization, employment generation, and overall economic resilience.
Mr. Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, MP, Minister for Finance & Planning, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, attended the program as the Guest of Honor. Addressing the audience, he highlighted the government’s economic vision and key priorities reflected in the proposed national budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
Mr. K.M. Mozibul Hoque, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of UAP and Chairman of Shah Group, TAS Group, and BAKKAH Group, joined the event as a Special Guest. He emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration between academia, policymakers, and the private sector to support innovation, entrepreneurship, and long-term economic development.
The discussion featured valuable insights from distinguished panelists and experts, who shared perspectives on fiscal policy reforms, investment climate improvements, inflation management, and inclusive economic growth. Participants also explored the opportunities and challenges facing Bangladesh in the evolving global economic landscape.
The session was moderated by renowned journalist, activist, and host of Tritiyo Matra, Mr. Zillur Rahman, who facilitated an engaging and thought-provoking discussion among the panelists.
