BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has extended his heartfelt greetings to the Hindu community on the occasion of Janmashtami, wishing them continued good health, prosperity and well-being.

In a message, issued on Friday night, he described Janmashtami as a significant religious festival for the Hindus, one that is celebrated with great devotion.

He noted that the festival’s spirit transcends religious boundaries, welcoming people from all faiths to partake in its celebrations.

“Janmashtami is not mere a religious festival for Hindus rather a symbol of unity,” Fakhrul said, adding, “Religious harmony is the cornerstone of Bangladesh’s society and culture, and the cordial relations among various communities have enriched our national history and traditions.”

Fakhrul reiterated the BNP’s commitment to ensuring equal rights for all citizens, regardless of their faith, and called on everyone to contribute to creating a peaceful society by eliminating violence, hatred and discrimination.

“We must all work together from our respective positions to build a peaceful society free from unrest and injustice,” he added.
