State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj today said the government has decided to introduce martial arts in primary education to promote children’s physical and mental development and teach them self-defense.

“Sports programmes will be strengthened at the primary level, and martial arts will be introduced in Classes Four and Five to develop self-defense skills alongside the physical and mental growth of children,” he said.

The state minister made the remarks as the chief guest at a black belt award ceremony held at Bijoy Sarani in the capital.

He said martial arts would not only equip students with self-defense skills but also help develop discipline, self-confidence, patience and a positive mindset.
