An overnight curfew went into effect in protest-hit downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday, with Mayor Karen Bass earlier saying it was to “stop the vandalism, to stop the looting” after several days of unrest.
Scores of protesters remained in the central area of the second-largest city in the country as the curfew came into effect at 8:00 pm (0300 GMT), AFP reporters saw.
