Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman today said attacking individuals in the name of freedom of expression and maligning people’s characters are not freedom but those are offenses.

He said this at a press conference on the occasion of the ‘100 days’ of the government at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon here this afternoon.

The press conference was organised by the Prime Minister’s Press Wing.

Ruman said this morning in the secretariat, a girl was addressing the Prime Minister as Tarique Rahman.

“One should talk to a prime minister with respect, but the girl does not even know that. This is a kind of social degradation. Seeing the language in which that girl spoke to the Prime Minister, 10 more boys and girls will learn. So, we should give our children proper education on how to speak to others with respect,” he said.

Ruman said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is working tirelessly for the welfare of the country and he is trying to do something good for the welfare of the people.

“Everyone should see this positively,” he said.

Moderated by the Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony, the press conference was attended, among others, by Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman, Prime Minister’s Speech Writer Mahfuzur Rahman, Deputy Press Secretaries Mostafa Zulfiquar Hasan, Md. Suzauddhowla and Shahadat Hossain Shadhin.
