BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir returned his Gulshan residence after taking treatment at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Savar, party sources said.

Fakhrul Islam fell sick suddenly after paying tribute to 1971 Liberation War martyrs at National Memorial at Savar.

The party’s standing committee member and physician Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain told BSS, “Secretary General returned home around 2 pm. Alhamdulillah… he’s now safe and taking rest.”

Dr Zahid said, Fakhrul’s some medical tests were done at the CMH and the reports are good. The CMH doctors gave him permission to go home after reviewing the reports.

BNP secretary general fell sick due to pressure of huge crowd after laying wreaths at the National Memorial. He suddenly fell on the ground as he was approaching the journalists for a briefing.

Party leaders quickly brought him to Savar CMH where doctors conducted his medical check up keeping him in observation.

Upon learning the illness of Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, 9th Infantry Division GOC Major General Md. Moin Khan quickly arrived at CMH and inquired about his treatment, Dr Zahid said.
