the significant role played by China, as an important neighbor of Bangladesh and Myanmar and a
responsible major power, in mediating the repatriation. He also called on the international
community to further intensify its assistance and to work together to facilitate the early realization of
repatriation.
Ambassador Yao indicated that Bangladesh and Myanmar are both friendly and close neighbors of
China, and that China has long been actively mediating and urging the two sides to reach a number of
important consensus on the start of the repatriation. The early start of repatriation is of great
significance to the improvement of Bangladesh-Myanmar relations and the maintenance of regional
