(BSS) – Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmad Bir Bikram today congratulated the Bangladesh cricket team on its Test victory against Australia.
In a congratulatory message, he said Bangladesh’s glorious victory in a Test match on Australian soil for the first time would play a positive role in the country’s progress in cricket. He also warmly congratulated all the players, coaches and other members of the winning team.
Bangladesh today created history by sealing a nine-wicket victory against Australia in the first cricket Test at Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin.
Offspinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed a five-wicket haul on Day 4 to bowl out Australia for 284 in the second innings, leaving Bangladesh a target of 57 runs for a victory for the first time on Australian soil, a place considered as the toughest for the visiting nation.
Bangladesh reached the winning target in 14.2 overs for the loss of Tanzid Hasan Tamim, bringing a watershed moment in the country’s cricket history. The victory came 23 years after Bangladesh last played a Test in Australia.
